Mariasole - Lucca/Tuscany Holiday Rentals

Details

Home Description

PRIVATE STRUCTURE. Along a curve in the road leading, after a few metres, to the medieval borgo of Gualdo, “the Land of Fairy Tales”, stands a stone house, covered in Virginia creeper and surrounded by a beautiful botanical garden, a natural terrace which stretches out to the tangled foliage of the woods that end on the fascinating horizon designed by the Apuan Alps to the north, with Monte Prana in the foreground rising up above the valley of Camaiore, and on the majestic Corchia; in the centre is the splendid sea of the Versilia coast, less than 6 km away as the crow flies. Mariasole is a young building with a strong personality, realized with original materials, for the most part salvaged, such as wood and stone, which have given it the appearance of a cosy rural home, where the modern functionality of the accessories has been combined with an accurate design of furniture that fully realizes the desire of the owners to create a hospitable, comfortable and intimate environment. The Provençal and country-inspired furniture, in natural woods and wrought iron with romantic antiqued finishes, with their delicate colours perfectly matched with the warm, velvety colours of the walls and curtains, together with unpredictable details and the precious Vietri majolica in the rustic kitchen and in the bathrooms, create a romantic harmony with the flavours of times gone by and reflect a simple and relaxed lifestyle, punctuated by the gentle rhythms of the beautiful nature surrounding the house. The wonder continues outdoors, when the French windows open out onto the delightful garden, transformed into a private corner to live in at all hours of the day, arranged with comfortable seating, outdoor kitchen and panoramic swimming pool, surrounded by the plants and flowers of the typical Mediterranean vegetation. Nestled in the hills of Versilia and just a few kilometres from the motorway exit, the property is the ideal destination for exploring a region rich in artistic and cultural offers as well as multiple wine and food suggestions and scenic opportunities. The magnificent towns of Lucca and Pietrasanta, famous for their artistic vocation, Camaiore, Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi are just a few minutes away, as is the Tyrrhenian coast with its beautiful beaches. In about half an hour, thanks to the nearby motorway, you can visit Pisa, the area of the Garfagnana, the Lunigiana, the Cinque Terre and many other amenities in the area. Scenic hikers, bird watchers and bikers will have a huge area to explore, with native fauna and typical vegetation, ranging from Torre del Lago Puccini, made famous by the celebrated composer who loved to spend his free time here, to the nature sanctuary of Lake Massaciuccoli (15 minutes from the property) and to the more or less passable trails, overlooking the sea, that wind along the ridges of the Apuan Alps. Finally, for connoisseurs of good wine and genuine food, it will be a great opportunity to sample the local specialties, with fruit and vegetables from the biodynamic gardens, organic jams, local cheese and meat, and a delicious spring water that gushes out from the deep aquifers of a land that encompasses all that is good and beautiful of this stunning part of Tuscany.

Interior
The house lies on a hilly, terraced terrain and has three floors, with the ground floor and basement connected to each other both internally and externally. The main entrance, on the ground floor, opens into the lovely bright living area with sitting room, facing out to the furnished porch. A small hallway on one side leads to two double bedrooms and a bathroom with shower. Both bedrooms have French windows, with the first leading out to a beautiful little panoramic balcony, while the second leads directly into the garden. A stone staircase leads up to the first floor and down to the basement. Upstairs is the rest of the sleeping area, composed of two double bedrooms (one with little panoramic balcony overlooking the pool) and two additional single beds in one of them. Serving the two rooms is a bathroom with shower. Downstairs in the basement is an airy open-plan area, connected by French windows to the garden (pool side) and organized with a seating area, dining table and a rustic kitchen with marble work top and tiled with attractive Vietri majolica, on which proudly stands a collection of copper pots. Also on this floor is a large bathroom with double basin, shower and whirlpool tub. The laundry is located on the side of the house connected to the pergola with outdoor kitchen and is provided with a washing machine, dryer, counter tops and sink.

Park
A white gate marks the entrance to the property and admits guests onto a quiet and enchanted pathway through the beautiful garden that surrounds the property, well-cared for and perfectly set in the harmony of forms and colours of the territory in which it lies. The park unfolds over terraced areas along the sloping ridge of the hillside, against a background extending towards the Alps and the sea and with, at the lower levels and beside the house, a vineyard and orchard. The typical Mediterranean vegetation around the house is a generous triumph of aromas and multiple blooms. The borders of medicinal plants such as myrtle, St. John's wort, germander and bushes of rosemary and lavender, alternating with cypress and olive trees, create spectacular scenes and kindle one's desire to pass the time outdoors in the numerous areas arranged with seating for relaxing and alfresco eating: the gazebo set in the pool area, the large portico outside the living room, furnished with sofas and table with chairs, a large paved area protected by a pergola with climbing roses and grape vines and equipped with a convenient electric BBQ (in lava stone, that can turn into an oven to cook pizza, and with a hob) and, finally, many silent, cosy corners for reading or relaxing in. There is a parking space near the main entrance and a parking area (private) outside the entrance gate.

Swimming Pool
Bushes of germander, helichrysum, rosemary and lavender border the terracotta stairs, framing the water and defining the boundaries of the pool area which is paved in Egyptian limestone and coloured by potted hibiscus and bougainvillea, surrounded by the green garden at the back and set in a super panoramic position. Lined with PVC, with a stone edge, the pool has a curvilinear kidney bean-form, with an area of 50 sq m and a constant depth of 1.55m. The pool has salt purification and hydromassage jets located along the interior steps. All around the pool are elegant sunbeds, table and chairs and a large sofa with coffee tables protected by a wooden gazebo with curtains at the sides. The swimming pool, with internal lighting and outdoor cold-water shower, is open from the last Saturday in April until the first Saturday of October.
