Our family owns from various generations Villa Montescalari, an independent residence built in 1458 and loctated in the beautiful Cintoia Valley, with medieval castles, olive groves and cypress trees in the heart of Chianti. This area is designated Chianti Classico Gallo Nero because of the exceptional wines produced here, but it has also been named “Chiantishire” by the passionate travelers who come here because they love great wine, good food, but above all, the peace and tranquility that is to be found here.
Villa Montescalari dates 1458 and retains the style, antique taste and elegance of that historical period. While the villa has been updated and modernized over the years in order to offer guests a comfortable stay, there are many original period pieces to be found throughout the villa and its surrounding grounds. This is a setting that is ideal for a vacation in which to immerse oneself in nature, in the culture of Italy and certainly in the food and wine for which this area is famous throughout the world.
The famous Golf of Ugolino is only at 10 km from the villa and only by 500 meters there is a very nice ranch where is possible to rent horses to have an unforgettable ride trough the lanes of the valley. The villa is situated only 18 km from Florence, which makes it very easy to reach the city for a full day of cultural enrichment - visiting the Uffizi Gallery, Pitti Palace, the Accademia Museum with its famous David, not to mention the panoramic view of Florence from the Piazzale Michelangelo - and yet be able to return in the evening to the peace and tranquillity of the Chianti hills.

We offer you the opportunity to spend a different holiday in a classic 15th Century estate set among terraced gardens with marvelous views of the surrounding hills, vineyards and olive groves of the famous Chianti region. Situated on a quiet hill, guests can reach it through a small winding country road. Villa Montescalari's well-tended grounds include terraced gardens dotted with elegant garden furniture, a swimming pool with view, and a characteristic courtyard with a well, tennis table and BBQ facilities. Horseback riding grounds and the sumptuous greens of the Ugolino Golf Club are also nearby.
From the courtyard, after a flight of stairs, you get in a large, fabulous living room ( 60 mq ) with fireplace, antique furniture, coffered ceiling and stone portals. From there you access to a comfortable library with fireplace, satellite TV, internet link, DVD player, full of guides and art's book of Florence, at complete disposal of guests.Then you get in a double bedroom with an antique incredible four-poster bed and in a bathroom with bathtub, shower and wardrobe. Follows a precious, little dining room with fireplace, satellite TV and damewaiter and a large dining room with precious french fireplace, damewaiter and access to a terrace above the courtyard.
At second floor there are three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, and a dining room. In the first bedroom, 60 mq. wide, there is a four-poster bed, a french bed and a comfortable bathroom with shower and bathtub; in the second bedroom, 45 mq. large, with fireplace, there are two french beds and a single bed. In the third bedroom there is a double bed and a single bed. For the last two rooms there is a bathroom with shower. Follows a new fully-equipped kitchen and a dining room with two sofa-beds with access to a garden with wonderful view.
In the guest house, with two rooms and a bathroom, attached at the villa by a short corridor, there is a single bed and a bunkbed (three beds in total), and a nice living room with a big ancient fireplace.
You can enjoy a romantic garden, 30.000 mq. large, and a suggestive pool, entirely dig in the rock from which you have a breathtaking view on ancient castles and indescribable panorama. The garden, the pool, so as the garage are exclusively at disposal of guests.
