Outside guests enjoy a private garden and private swimming pool (open from mid May to the end of September each year). Inside it is furnished simply but tastefully in a traditional Tuscan style. It is a wonderful setting for a family holiday in this fantastic area of Tuscany. Only 2.5 kilometres from the beautiful town of Cortona, it is also a great location for visiting Arezzo (27 km), Montepulciano (30 km), Pienza (40 km), Lake Trasimeno (12 km), Assissi (75 km) and Sienna (60 km). There is a small village shop just 500 metres from the property whilst the nearest restaurants are in Ossaia, 3kms away, or in Cortona.
The farmhouse is named after the mythological character, Dordano, who legend says was the founder of Cortona and from here went on to found Troy and then Rome. Certainly the building is steeped in history. On the ground floor there is a central fireplace in which is carved the coat of arms of Cardinal Passerini, evidence that the property once belonged to the famous Cardinal who was Counseler to Pope Leone X of Medici.
The property is laid out over 3 floors. On the ground floor, there is an open plan living, dining and kitchen area. The kitchen is simple but functional with everything you should need during your stay. There is also a double bedroom on this floor and a further bedroom with 3 single beds. These bedrooms share a bathroom with shower. Stairs lead from the living area to the second floor where there is another bathroom and double bedroom. Stairs lead from the bedroom to a mezzanine level where there is another double bedroom. This is a lovely room, with terracotta floors and Gothic windows. Guests can't fail to be charmed by this lovely property with its wooden beams and simple rustic furnishings.
Outside the property has a private swimming pool (40 feet x 20 feet) and garden. Plenty of loungers are provided for lazy days by the pool. Tables and chairs are also provided and there is a BBQ for al fresco dining. Children and the young at heart will have lots of fun playing at the table football table. There is an old stone well in the garden and next to this is a lovely seating area, shaded by the grapevine growing over it. The gardens are mowed meadows and enjoy lovely views over the countryside. There are also substantial outbuildings which provide welcome shaded parking bays for your cars.
