In an elevated position, it has a wonderful view of the harbour and surrounding area in infinite shades of green. The villa has four floors and from the upper floors, in particular from the turret, is a breathtaking view over the sea; a luxuriant garden surrounds the property. This elegant house has been restored with great skill in typical Sardinian style, with outer stone walls on a raised embankment, terracotta floors and wooden-beamed ceilings with trusses and posts. The feature that renders the property special is, without a doubt, the outdoor patio area where relaxation zones have been carved out of the rock, with smooth stones for seats, where guests can sit and chat in complete harmony with nature. The interior is simple and refined, rendered warm and welcoming by the soft colours and by the combination of modern design and typical Sardinian style. It is obvious that the architecture of Portorotondo, where the villa is located, copies the structure of Venice and, not surprisingly, the main square is called Piazzetta San Marco. Close to Villa Mare are the most famous beaches of Sardinia such as Ira (Sa Rena Manna in Sardinian) in honour of Ira von F?rstenberg, Spiaggia Sassi (Pebble Beach), Spiaggia delle Alghe (Seaweed Beach) and Punta Volpe (Iscia Segada in Sardinian). Together with Porto Cervo, Porto Rotondo is considered one of the most "in" places of Sardinia and of Italy as a whole: many VIPs can be spotted, especially in nightclubs during the summer season.
Interior
There are two entrances to the house, numbers 29 and 31 of Via Porto Rotondo From the number 29 entrance 17 steps lead to the ground floor of the house whilst the number 31 entrance takes you along a driveway straight into the garden where the pool is located. In the ground floor entrance hall is a staircase leading to all the floors; stairs go down to the basement with a double bedroom with bathroom with shower and the laundry room. On the ground floor, to the right, is a double bedroom with bathroom with shower and a walk-in closet; to the left is another double bedroom with bathroom with tub. The stairs leading up to the first floor go directly into the living/dining room with kitchen directly connected to a terrace, overlooking the garden and sea, with access to another double bedroom with shower. The stairs continue up to the top floor, called the turret, with a double bedroom and bathroom with tub and a small balcony.
Park
The park is divided into a 250 sq m area of lawn, a 70 sq m paved area used as an outdoor kitchen with wood oven, 4 burner cook-top and built-in barbecue, a swimming pool and 100 m of sloping woodland. In the garden are tall trees and flowers of every variety with a good portion of areas with lawn. The lawn areas alternate granite-slab paving, typical of the area, flanked by borders of herbs and tall trees, along which guests can walk to the various areas set up for sitting and relaxing in peace and tranquillity. At the ground floor are two spacious porticoes situated in front of the bedrooms, furnished with tables and chairs, but the most attractive part of the garden are the perimeter spaces cut into the rock with natural seating. Next to the pool is lounge area with sofas and armchairs where guests can relax in quiet company while nearby, but in a far-off corner of the garden, is a relaxation area, shaded by tall trees - the perfect spot for enjoying complete privacy.
Swimming Pool
The attractive swimming pool is located inside the garden and ensures absolute privacy. It can be reached from the house along a flight of 5 steps directly from the second entrance into the back garden. The pool is delimited by a hedge growing along the perimeter wall and, on the remaining sides, by the main garden. The rectangular pool with 30 cm wide granite border is equipped with a painted concrete ladder for access to the water and measures 5 x 4 m with a depth varying from 120 cm to 150 cm. It has chlorine purification and both internal and external lighting. The solarium area around the pool is equipped with sunbeds and deck chairs while a large umbrella, ensuring constant shade, stands on the lawn surrounding the pool. There is also a cold-water shower.
