Villa Antonio is a trullo, a type of property found only in the region of Puglia in the heel of Italy. Its high conical roofs and heavy walls help to keep it fresh in the summer and warm in the winter.
To keep you cool outside it has a new 15metre 'infinity' swimming pool with a 50cm toddler's area set in gardens at the top of a hectare of fields sloping away into the Valley d'Itria at the front. At the back there is a large private sheltered barbecue area. To the side is the drive which winds its way from the gates where there is parking for 5 cars.
The main entrance is into the kitchen which has a large table for 8 people. An archway leads through to the living room which has a built-in sofa that converts to a 7th bed. Another arch leads to the 'snug', the room at the center of the house, featuring a fireplace and 2 stone benches. Off the snug is the main bathroom, a double bedroom through an almost hidden arch by the fireplace and another bedroom with 2 bunk beds. From that bedroom a door leads to the master bedroom which has a very high conical ceiling and a pretty en-suite bathroom.
This area is for gourmets - the restaurants in the nearby towns serve typical regional food and are not expensive. But the shops and markets all sell the local produce so for the cooks the variety and quality is just amazing!
Set somewhat above sea level the area is slightly cooler than down at the sea so beach lovers can travel to a variety of beaches on the Adriatic coast and, after a day in the heat, retreat back to the hills where it is easier to sleep in the fresher air of the Vallet d'Itria. Alternatively you can enjoy the heat of the day at the villa and cool off in the pool.
