It consists of 2 independent, well-furnished and very cozy units of different size comfortably sleeping a total of 18.
The farm lays on 50 hectares of fodder cropping and olive groves, with selected rearing of “Chianina” breed and competition horses. Along with natural farming, we produce honey and a delicious extra-virgin olive oil. Sallegrotte is very well connected with the Milan-Bologna-Florence-Naples A1 highway (the backbone of Italy) and represents the starting point for naturalistic, historical and cultural itineraries to Umbria (Orvieto, Todi, Assisi, Spoleto and Perugia) at only 15 km. and Lazio and Tuscany, with Viterbo, Bolsena lake, Bomarzo, Villa Lante, Castel d'Asso, Tarquinia, Siena, Florence, Rome and the prettiest Tirrenian shores at a stone’s throw.
Sallegrotte is situated at approximately 500 meters on the sea level and is sheltered from excessive summer heat by the rich surrounding vegetation – plenty of flowers and scenty herbs in season. Several features such a very well-kept swimming pool, a large garden equipped with tables, chairs and a barbecue – so you can swim, relax, cook and eat outside – make of Sallegrotte one of the most comfortable, relaxing, ideal places to spend your holidays. Both the house and the pool are independent and for individual use only. The property has been restored with extreme attention to the original structure and design and is now one of the prettiest properties in the area.
THE LAYOUT - The main unit is on two floors and comfortably sleeps up to 12 people, 14 with additional beds. The ground floor features a livingroom, a very large sitting-dining room, a fully equipped kitchen with a fireplace and a storage room, whereas the first floor is made of four bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and a view over the breathtaking Calanchi Valley and/or the garden. Comfortably sleeping 4, the smaller unit features a fully equipped kitchen, a livingroom and 2 bedrooms, each with its own bathroom.
Besides the amazing beauty of the surroundings, Sallegrotte features quite a few amenities that can grant you a true memorable stay. The swimming pool is large (6x12 mts) and furnished with chairs, tables, sunbeds and umbrellas. Next to it a very spacious, trellis-covered terrace overlooks the property providing excellent relax with a chance to dine al fresco. The property also features a barbecue and an oven to bake your own pizza, bread and more. Finally, should you liike to cook Italian style and eat wealthy, we do provide local, organic food and produce we grow and sell, directly from our own century-old store in Civita di Bagnoregio. Fresh fuit and jam, vegetables, virgin olive oil, truffles, wine, bread, whatever you like - just ask!
Even though the house is located in a very quiet, private area (nearest village is Bagnoregio, about 4-5 kms), you are not on your own. Lara and Raffaele, the owners, live a few kilometers from the house and can reach it in minutes, if needed. That means 100% availablility for whatever you may need - hints, extra service, assistance, anything.
