Hillcrest Farmhouse has been the family home for 5 generations. Since 1990 it has been tastefully restored and was operated as an award winning Guesthouse and is now available for your self-catering holiday home. It is 4 star Irish Tourist Board approved. Located on the beautiful ‘Sheep’s Head’ peninsula, it is a 5 minute walk to Ahakista village where you will find a small sheltered beach, pubs wtih traditional Irish music, Herons Gallery and cafe, restaurant , sailing fishing and boating, church and school, overlooking Ahakista harbour and Dunmanus Bay. Two pubs Arundels by the pier and the Tin pub. The farmhouse has superb sea and mountain views, large garden with lovely mature trees and shrubs, patio area and on site parking.
Just 3 miles to the village of Kilcrohane where you will find good restaurants and Irish music pubs, playground and beaches, shop and church, located on the ‘Sheep’s Head Way’ walk and cycling route. The very popular ‘Sheep’s Head Way’achieved the ‘Eden Award’ of excellence in Europe in 2009. There are many loop walks for the visitor to pursue or long walks for the more enthusiastic walker, maps available. The coastal village of Durrus is just 5 miles with its restaurants, pubs supermarket shops and cookery school, also lovely gardens open to the public. Bantry town just 20 minutes drive, which has many attractions. The farmhouse is furnished with some antiques and is equipped to a high standard. A baby cot and high chair are available, electric blankets, clock radios hair dryers in all bedrooms and power showers. Not equipped for wheelchair mobility. Linen, towels and toiletries supplied.

At the back is the owners accommodation where we offer breakfast to our self catering guests should they require same. It is totally independent and separate to the rental accommodation.Home made scones are served as a welcome pack on your arrival. Our friendly collie dog Shep will be waiting to greet you and guide you on the walking trail. Our lovely cat roams around the farmyard. Our two donkeys love the visitors especially when they feed them a carrot and our free range hens are there for you to view and the rooster with its singing voice throughout the day.
