The house is situated on the edge of the pretty village of Buzan, on a south facing slope looking towards Mont Valier (2860 m). Buzan is 20 minutes SW of St Girons in the Bellongue valley near Castillon. The house has been beautifully converted to create a cosy holiday retreat. For Winter holidays, the Jotul log burner and supply of logs ensures you are kept warm throughout your stay. The house also has wall mounted electric fires as a back up. The views from the terrace are spectacular. For walkers, it is ideally located on the pilgrims route to Santiago di Compostela. Many walks can be enjoyed from the door step. It is also well situated for keen cyclists to enjoy some of the more serious parts of the Tour de France that pass down the valley most years.
Ground Floor :- To the right- A family room with a double bed and bunk beds. To the left is a large tiled area with sauna that will take 6, a wet room with 2 showers and 2 basins. and a separate WC, bidet and basin. It also locates the washing machine.
1st Floor :- Staircase leads into the open plan Salle de Sejour (Living/Dining room ) & Galley kitchen. Leading off the Salle de Sejour to the right are 2 small double bedrooms. To the left, it leads through a pantry to the 1st floor Terrace. The Terrace has a BBQ and a table with seating for 8, with superb views of the Pyrenean chain.
2nd Floor :- Staircase leads to the master bedroom suite. With an en-suite bath, toilet , bidet & basin. To the right is a dressing area with fitted cupboards & desk.
The Garden :- There is a private garden with a large deck, with a dining table to seat 6 – 8. Superb views of Mont Valier to the south and Pic de Calabasse (2210 m) to the west.
Equipment :- Kitchen :- Dishwasher, Fridge Freezer, Coffee Perculator, Kettle, Toaster & Electric Hand Mixer. Pantry :- Fridge Freezer & Microwave . Wet Room : – Washing Machine.
Shopping :- Nearest small shop is in Argein, a 5 minute drive away. A larger small supermarket is in Castillon. For larger supermarkets you would need to drive 20 minutes to St Girons. We can do a large supermarket market shop for you prior to arrival, we have a shopping template that can be adjusted to add items not on our list. For this service we charge 10% of the cost of the shop or a minimum of 15 Euros.
Cost of Electricity :- This is not included in the rental price, particularly as it depends on the use of the sauna. From past experience, we have rarely found the electricity cost to be more than 60 Euros, even in winter. The cost of the electricity comes off the security deposit. A refundable security deposit of £200 is added to the balance payable 2 months before your holiday.
Restaurants :- There are 3 excellent restaurants locally in Galey, St Lary and Chez Jo, our favourite, in Portet Aspet, here you can enjoy a 4 course meal with wine for only 15 euros !
Skiing :- The nearest small ski resort is at La Mourtis 35 minutes away.
