Chateau Challain offers an exclusive and luxurious bed and breakfast in the Loire valley, our accommodation ranges from luxury suites and a 2 bedroom self catering Gate house, in a prestigious 19th century chateau surrounded by it's own 33 hectare park. This romantic castle is centrally located in an area of France offering the traveller wonderful tastes and flavors in the surrounding regions. We believe the chateau is the ultimate luxury bed and breakfast venue in France,of course you are more than welcome to stay longer and enjoy our gourmet cuisine. For those that wish to stay and enjoy our facilities without the grandeur of the Chateau we offer a Gite (self contained 2 bedroom apartment in the Gatehouse) this is normally self catered but you can book our Gourmet evening meals as well.
The Castle provides guests with luxurious suites and Gite for their Romantic holiday getaway in France. Designed for superior comfort, each room is brightened by the charm and elegance of a glamorous era (La belle epoch).
Tower Suite
In the tower you will discover a room of silk, a king size canope bed (220cm) with silk curtains to close yourselves in. A fire place filled with candles sets the mood. A spare room for a third person with a table to have that first cup of coffee, as you wake up to a view of the lake. The bathroom is aged marble. The suite also has a fireplace with candles, a separate w/c and a shower.
Romance Suite
You can't escape the feeling of romance as you enter this suite, which includes a grand silk bed, full bath, and separate salon for quiet, intimate meals. Experience historic luxury as you sip champagne, read poetry, and soak in a giant clawfoot tub, surrounded by fresh flowers and french manor charm.
Empress Suite
The Empress suite is one of the latest suites to be renovated to our exacting standards at the Château de Challain. A touch of royalty and we will treat you like the Royals of the "Belle Epoque".
Rochefaucauld Suite
The beauty of this room is the hand painted ceiling dating back to 1854, the year the Chateau was completed. The view outside the grand window is of the south lawn and 2 Hectares Lake. Enjoy a soak in this suite’s oversized tub situated next to a hand carved fireplace. An adjoining room has a beautiful sled bed filled with pillows
The Toile de Joile suite
Another very recently renovated suite in the Chateau de Challain. Holding with the tradition of France we have covered the walls in a warm green Toile to make this suite relaxing to all. Having a full view of the lake, the south sun warms this room. The Toile du Joile has a King size canopy bed with the most comfortable mattress as the rest of the rooms. The Sink basin is in the main room also having a generous size shower in a separate room you have all the comforts of home.
Gate House
The latest conversation. The gate house has been turned into a Gite (holiday home,self catered). It may be booked from Sunday to Friday mid day or friday mid day to Sunday mid day.
Royal Suite
Fit for a king! The original master bedroom is available with all the authentic furnishing. The Canopy bed is hand-carved oak standing fourteen feet tall. A second bedroom with two twin beds is connected by a dressing room and bathroom. This suite makes you feel as if this is your chateau.
Weddings
The Chateau is full of magic for the wedding couple, and offers a charming retreat for the guests. There is a town chapel within walking distance, and a smaller, private chapel in the Chateau, which features a stunning hand-painted gold ceiling.
Small receptions include cocktails, a four-course meal, and in-house service. Regional wine and champagne are also available, prices vary. Larger receptions are available through Traiteur (auxiliary caterers, ours are Michelin stared).
