Maureillas village is only 10mins walk away with all amenities - bakers', grocers', cash machine, bar, 2 restaurants in village square - one gourmet with excellent food (www.66survins.com) and one typically Catalan with simple and cheap food and which often hosts live entertainment, plus also weekly fiestas/fêtes in village leisure area in high season with live music, food and drinks, dancing and discos - open to all ages from kids to their grandparents - lovely typically French family atmosphere. Tennis Club at end of the road providing temporary membership, riding club also nearby and hiking/walking routes up the mountains and along the beautiful Côte Vermeille easily accessible. 5 mins drive to lively and sophisticated Céret town with beautiful old square within ancient ramparts and modern art gallery famous for its Picasso patronage and the whole town is full of restaurants and cafés - plus it's legendary market reputed to be the best in the region.
Medieval Perpignan is just a short drive away with its beautiful squares and architecture, boutiques, restaurants and cafés. Just half hour drive to lovely Mediterranean beaches, 20 mins drive to Figueres boasting Dali museum and with the beautiful Costa Brava, Girona and Barcelona all easily accessible. The Spanish border is but 5 minutes drive away so best of both worlds. The Villa is centrally heated so lovely for a winter break with ski pistes 90 mins drive away. Days can be warm even in mid-Winter and you can eat outside at lunchtime or have a sunny cliff walk - or drive to the ski pistes and romp in the snow.
The property is in a beautifully maintained walled Mediterranean style garden affording complete privacy and tranquility, full of flowering wall creepers, palm trees and lush flowering plants. There are outdoor wall lights all around the garden, large earthenware jars planted full of flowers and ornamental vases to give that Mediterranean feel. The front garden has a large olive tree, a hedge of lavender and there are cherry, plum and fig trees planted all around. There is a shady outdoor eating area on the garden terrace and stone bbq set in its own terraced area with marble table top and stone sideboard plus outdoor sink with running water to afford total outdoor living.There is a large private heated pool (6 x 4m, depth 1.5 m) set in its own terraced surround with an attractive plexiglass safety fence , sun loungers, bistro style marble top table at one end, round glass table with chairs at the other, so ideal for outdoor dining. Parasols are supplied for the table and for the pool terrace.

Saturday changeover day. This can be flexible in off peak periods by arrangement. House and area great for Autumn/Winter/Spring long weekends when it can be warm in the daytime sun and the light uplifting after the UK gloom.
