The Grenier Apartment- Lagrasse Holiday Rentals

Details

Home Description

The Grenier Apartment so called for its location within the converted loft is a unique and spacious apartment on the top floor of our 13th century house with 2 large double bedrooms sleeping 4-5.

Situated within the walls of the village, our house offers visitors a relaxed, peaceful & historic holiday experience. We (Guy and Claire) provide a warm welcome and are on hand to provide advice or suggestions on where to visit. Our trip advisor reviews are excellent so why not search 'Holidays in Lagrasse' to view the comments from our past clients who describe the activities and the high standard of service that we provide.

During loving renovation, the house unveiled many historic secrets associated with the Cathars. With 15 authentic stone arches scattered throughout the property and various 13th century paintings. The latter are currently under restoration with the first paintings unveiled in the village Maison de Patrimone (September 2014) revealing 20 chevaliers including one that depicts Simon de Montfort who was hated in the Languedoc for his cruelty and ambition towards the Cathars, you are sure to feel that you have taken a step back in time! However, with all mod cons and a comfortable feel to the living accommodation in the Arch Apartment, it is history at its best. With arguably the most spectacular facade in the village, Neuf Rue des Cancans really is a gem nestled within the cobbled streets of a village voted 'One of Frances Prettiest.'

The Grenier Apartment provides a spacious beamed Master bedroom with a bespoke Emperor bed, a large en-suite bathroom with walk in shower, sink and WC. The second bedroom has two twin beds, a double day bed, en-suite with glass sink, WC and bath with shower over. The twins can be made up as a double if required.

Both bedrooms lead to the center of the apartment where you will find the bespoke, fully equipped kitchen with dining area. The kitchen is built from wood found during the recent renovation of the house and in addition to the original loft beans adds character to this attractive yet functional and usable space.

The comfortably furnished lounge looks down to the walled garden and has cosy sofa’s with Sky TV and DVD player.

The apartment also includes access to the communal garden. The garden contains 3 x BBQ areas, 5 terraces, a grassy lawn, pétanque area and to top it all off a solar heated swimming pool with decked area. All of this is nestled within the original medieval stonewalls of our courtyard providing secluded privacy from the outside world. Apartment fully air-conditioned.

The Grenier Apartment has all you need for modern living twinned with the medieval and historic features we unearthed during the renovation. With sloped ceilings, original oak beams, hidden nooks and original wooden doors, the Grenier is sure to enhance any stay in Lagrasse.

Please note, The Grenier is situated on the 2nd floor so is not suitable for anyone with limited mobility or toddlers.

We provide: free wifi internet, bed linen plus tea towels and bath towels. Laundry facilities are on site. Cooler bags, ice packs etc are available for the days you would like to take a picnic. We can arrange holistic treatments, wine tasting, painting courses and for those feeling more energetic, guided walking is available through the local countryside and bike hire can easily be arranged. For those of you bringing your own bikes we have plenty of secure space on site.

Holidays in lagrasse is an ideal solution for friends and family looking to holiday together but wanting their own space! Please see our website Holidays in Lagrasse for further information on our other properties.

History Mystery !

Had a relaxing and fascinating time with Guy and Claire and family. The Gite was more an apartment of superb quality. We discovered while there that it was owned in the middle ages by a top Cathar priest ! We discovered its history at a village exhibition where the wine flowed later ! Stunning location..but quiet and cultured...wonderful restaurants in the village and an ideal location for visits to the Cathar castles and even the coastal resorts. We were totally refreshed t the end of the week. Highly recommend any of the 3 apartments/gites.
