Le Grand Pic, our French country house (maison bourgeoise) from 1840, completely renovated and fully equipped, including modern kitchen, central heating, a total of 4 rooms including 2 large bedrooms , kitchen (20m2) and dining room (25m2). After entering through a double door you're in the hall, which runs from front to back through the house and ends at a beautiful old oak spiral staircase. These stairs takes you through the tower on the 1st floor, where you'll find 2 bedrooms with beamed ceilings, one with a kingsize bed  and 1 single bed with full bathroom and toilet and 1 with a double bed and 1 single bed with fine sink and toilet.

On either side of the hall are the living quarters, including a spacious kitchen and a chic dining room and also an extra bathroom with toilet. All rooms on ground floor are equipped with a marble fireplace with wood burning stoves. The floors are a combination of wooden parts, old clay tiles and antique tiles.

The private garden, 3000 m2, with fruit trees, has lots of privacy and stunning views over the hills and forests of the Morvan, 2 large terraces and plenty of shaded spots. The recently professionally swimming pool with a pump / purification system is 9 x 4 meters with integrated steps and surrounded by a spacious terrace. The garden has lots of space for various activities. BBQ available. The house, garden and pool are for private use.

Our house is located in the lovely rural village Barnay, surrounded by the rolling hills of the "Parc régional du Morvan", in which the famous white Charolais cows graze. Because of the continental climate and the fact that the village is in a valley, a large part of the year the wheather is nice. The name of our house "Le Grand Pic" is due to the great spotted woodpecker. There is a large variety of birds in the garden. From our house you walk right into the varied nature. Chances are that you have an encounter with a fox, deer or wild boar.

In the Morvan there ar various recreational activities such as swimming, sailing, mountain biking, horseback riding, canoeing, etc. For those who prefer the city and culture there is plenty of choice nearby. At 15 km. there is the "Gallo-Roman" city of Autun where you can visit several relics from the Roman period including the Augustodonum, an amphitheater of 70 AD, the temple of Janus and remnants of ancient city walls and gates. There is the beautiful cathedral of Saint-Lazare, whose construction began in the 12th century. In the center of Autun is a nice square surrounded by terraces and a beautiful town hall and theater. On Wednesday and Friday here is a market and under the town hall a fresh products market. Just outside the city is a 12-hole golf course.

At 14 km. is the city Arnay le Duc, where in the summer every Thursday evening various festivities are organized. The gourmet Saulieu (20 km) is also a recommendation. A little further away (60 km) but definitely worth a visit, is the capital of Burgundy, Dijon, with a beautiful old center.

A half hour drive from Barnay is the wine city Beaune, with its lovely shops, squares and restaurants. Definitely a "must" is the "Hospices de Beaune" (former hospital from 1880). On the route to Beaune you pass the small famous wine-villages and vineyards where you are invited to taste the famous Burgundy wines.
