Sea Cliff Cottages

Details

Home Description

Sea Cliff Cottages is comprised of five solar powered cottages situated on the dramatic north east coast of Dominica.

Looking towards the sea to the east and the mountains to the south some of the views are truly spectacular and you will find your self relaxing totally on the balcony to the sound of the surf with a gentle breeze cooling you.

The grounds have been planted with fruit trees and tropical shrubs and the cottages are well separated from one another to provide privacy for our guests.

Hummingbirds flit from blossom to blossom and you can watch the frigate birds and pelicans swooping over the sea. The hawks drift over in front of the balconies and in certain times of year you can watch the parrots fly over looking for their favourite fruit trees.

Cathedral ceilings, and tiled throughout the cottages are pleasant and welcoming with complete kitchens, dining areas inside and out on the balconies as well, living areas, bathrooms and handcrafted cabinetry furniture using some lovely local woods.

There are coal/wood BBQ's and picnic tables in the back yard of each cottage for grilling fresh fish .

The smallest cottage, the Studio, has a queen sized bed, full kitchen, dining nook and large balcony. It is the only one that has no TV and because of the amazing view there has never been anyone ask for one !

We have two cottages/houses with two bedrooms each and they both have queen sized beds in the main room with a double bed and a single bunk in the second bedroom. This makes them work well either for families or for two couples or friends.

We supply our guests with a cell phone for their use and we have free wifi and cable TV.

Some of the cottages have their own washing machine and there are machines for the other cottages to use as well.

There are two cottages/houses with one bedroom and the second of these has a small apartment below which can be rented in conjunction with the main house. It is not rented out on its own however as we want people to have their privacy !

The kitchens are well equipped with all you need for meal preparation and for nights you would just rather not cook, you can arrange to have a meal catered ,or, enjoy one of the restaurants in the village.

The sea is about a five minute walk down the trail and the river below is fresh and good for swimming as well. Lovely for a quick refreshing plunge to rinse the sea salt off. The beach is a working beach with fishermen catching their bait and since it is hidden from the road we don't get a lot of people knowing the beach is there . The swimming is good as it is protected by a large island and several small ones.

There are several other beaches with in walking distance, and the village is only a kilometre away for groceries, shops, restaurants, churches post office and bank.

There are some lovely walks and hikes in the area. You can go for a number of miles up on the ridges following what we call the 'feeder roads' that take you through the farms or gardens or check out a secluded waterfall. If you prefer the water we can help you arrange a trip along the coast by boat or to go out fishing with some of our local fishermen.

The people in the village and in our neighbourhood are very friendly and helpful. Our guests regularly comment on this and are made to feel very comfortable.

In March and April an extra bonus is the sea turtles who come on the beaches to lay their eggs. A truly wondrous sight and one that you will never forget.

Hike, swim, snorkel, fish or just relax. It is all here for you.

The countryside is beautiful. Wherever you look there is a 'view'

and if you are an artist or photographer you will be completely in your element !
