Ever since our first contact with the home owner Clayton all the way through our final day was fantastic. Clayton was very responsive and answered all our questions quickly and continued to provide suggestions on places we could visit and explore. The maid cooked a delicious breakfast every morning, cleaned up and made sure we were very comfortable with our stay. The apartment was as described and the pictures were very good at showing the layout. We would absolutely come back... Recommendations: Do go to the islands of Rosario, old town, the resort rooftop pool, spa, steam room, suggest you request the maid make patacones or other traditional dish. Do not recommend: Beach vendors or massage on the beach Read below for more details; not attributable to the apartment but to Cartagena itself. Off site: Taxi or Uber? We used Uber almost everyday to multiple locations, which was affordable and safe. If you’re going to be a first time traveler or a repeat visitor, Cartagena is a city easy enough to rent a car and travel on your own. As we were first time visitors we were unsure. Next time we’ll be ready to rent a car. Beach: The beach was beautiful; knowing that the dark sand was from volcanic ash helps understand the color of the water. The negatives are to watch for the beach vendors. I’ve been to enough locations to know to watch out for them, but one scenario we were unprepared for. The beach tents rental guy came up to us and mentioned that we must be staying at Claytons place. We replied yes and he did do a good job taking care of us. Which built in some small trust, while another vendors came up and attempted to cut some deals. As I’m completely opposed to any beach deal the vendor covered any cost upfront and indicated he would provide a receipt which we could pay with a credit card. The beach tent vendor said we could trust him. The event the next day went off without a hitch and we paid with a credit card… until we returned home and the vendor indicated he required more money in cash for things that weren’t paid for. He could not provide a receipt and charged up to 3x what it would normally cost. After negotiating a final cost, we were still disappointed that it had to come to arguing at the end of the day. Thus, again - the point of the story is don’t trust beach vendors. Otherwise, everything else was awesome and we will be coming back to Cartagena for the years to come!

The best holidays in family
The apartment is located overlooking the beach. It has a balcony with a couple of very nice hammocks. Each room with its bathroom and direct ventilation in each. The cleaning of the apartment, and building in general is excellent. The woman who does the toilet and kitchen is very friendly, clean and helpful. I would definitely rent the apartment again

Amazing place to stay
We came for a family reunion at Mar Abierto. The appartment is large and very confortable and clean. The beach front is just amazing. We enjoy the infinity pool on the terrasse and the great cooking of Leydis. The owner of the condo was very helpful in planing our trip. The location is calm and perfect for families. We highly recommend this location and will come back. The pictures on the website represent well the beauty of the condo.

Real Vacation
I am from Colombia and we always book hotels in Cartagena, but this time my in laws were coming with us from Canada, so we decided to rent a condo to make their stay more pleasant. We decide to rent in the other end of the busy Cartagena area, because we want to enjoy the beaches and full relaxation and if we wanted party scene or more touristic time will just take a taxe, so we decided this area. We found Clayton's amazing condo. The premises were so beautiful, very clean, the apartament was amazing, very big and very confortable, we were 6 people, 4 adults 2 kids, and we had lots of space, the beds were amazing and the rooms very cozy, specially when was super hot out, my in laws had the most amazing time in Colombia, specially in Cartagena because the arrangements of the condo. Clayton had a maid and she was a great person,she was kind and very accommodating, she cooked breakfast for us and she made this amazing juices that I love every time that I come back to Colombia. My boys loved the fresh fruit and the arepas made with Queso Costeño, ummmm love them, my in laws could not believe how amazing our Colombian food was. Also she made this stew chicken with green beans and rice, my inlaws and boys were licking their fingers, then she made the most amazing coconut rice I have ever aten. My youngest boy keept talking about it and it will be his fist choice when come back to Cartagena Colombia.my in laws could not believe how amazing our Colombian food was. Well I can keep going all day but in summary, everything was amazing, the best, people was lovely all over and that's why we Colombians are tag as the most welcoming people in latin America. My in laws are planning to come back to Cartagena and for sure will be renting the same apartment, the same with us, next spring will be booking the same beautiful condo. And something very important was that the owner (Clayton was very helpful with tips and advices for getting around in Cartagena) Thanks for making this vacation a real relaxing one.

Large Corner Beachfront family apartment in the Zona Norte section of Cartagena. A short walk to the Hotel Las Americas. 205 square meters of lovely stone floor and whitewashed cement walls. Very private apartment only three apartments on the level. The apartment is located on the fifth floor, two floors from rooftop pool. And the building has direct beach access. Rental includes daily maid service for 5 days a week Monday through Friday except holidays at no extra charge!
WE CAN ONLY RENT TO FAMILIES. MAXIMUM 8 PERSONS AND DOES NOT ALLOW DAY GUESTS OR PETS.
The terrace is spacious with two sections, two double hammocks and a large 8 top table for al fresco dining.
The open kitchen and living/room dining area is breezy and bright.
Three large comfortable bedrooms offer the privacy of their own full bathroom. There is also a guest half bath off of the living room.
There is an enclosed t.v. room/home office with a brand new smart tv, we have enhanced fast wifi and cable.
Our building is ubiquitous in the area, and is well known for its unique feng shui design,
It is very private and extremely exclusive (please understand that is why we have such strict security procedures).
Inside and out it is a very elegant, yet unpretentious environment.
There are 24 hour security guards at both the main entrance and garage and at the beach access entrance.
The beach access area is direct from the building and has outdoor showers and a bathroom available.
There is a small playground for young children on the second floor mezzanine.
The rooftop common area has lots of open space for yoga and fitness classes offered by the building twice a week (registration and fee required) and you are welcome to use our fitness items in the apartment.
Building is 5 minutes from the airport, 10 minutes from the walled city and 15-20 minutes from Bocagrande.
We can offer help with additional apartments in our building. We can also arrange tours, transportation and in home services such as massages, mani pedis, catering and yoga. Contact us for details.
Please note that in addition to the nightly rate there are additional charges that are calculated at check-out separately partially for accounting reasons but also because of this websites new policies. This includes additional charges per person after 4 people with a firm maximum of 8. Please review the detailed quote before requesting a booking. First the service fee is paid to and received by VRBO/Homeaway not us. The Security Deposit is received and held by VRBO/Homeaway and is released to you directly by them. We do not see, hold or otherwise control it.
The building charges a penalty per person for short term rentals for anyone that enters and requires our written express permission referencing that persons passport number.
Therefore all guests must be registered at the time of booking. Add-ons will not be given permission to enter the building unless we approve them and an additional fee will be required. We reserve the right to refuse entry if identities of guests are changed.
