Point of View is privately owned, solar powered home on one completely fenced and gated acre. It is comprised of a main living building, and separate bedroom building. Below the main building is the caretaker's unit. While it affords privacy, the caretaker is nearby should you need them. Additionally, another building houses the ballet studio and includes a full bath. Studio can also be used as a bedroom for another couple, with queen bed.
This home was originally built in 1989, and expanded over the years to what it is today. It includes a beautiful private pool with large sunny deck, and poolhouse, which includes a small kitchen area, under the counter refrigerator, and a gas grill.
The living area of the house consists of a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, 3/4 bath, day room (with twin bed), and living room that opens to a deck/patio area.
The bedroom building is connected to the main house by a breezeway and consists of the master bedroom (king bed) with sitting area, and separate deck overlooking the pool and fantastic view of Montserrat. There is also a small bedroom with bunk beds. The master bath has a large round tub, partially outside, and surrounded by a stone wall for privacy.
Built on a hill, stone stairways connect all the buildings. The lower building on the property is our beautiful, breezy workout studio with a mirrored wall on one side & windows overlooking an unobstructed ocean view on the opposite side. Wooden louvres on the E & W walls allow the breeze to blow across the room as you work out. It has an outside deck with built in benches on both sides.
If you like hiking, one of Antigua's FINEST beaches, 'Rendezvous'., is about a 30 minute walk away. Not to be missed! Pack a lunch, throw a few drinks in your backpack and head off.
If you are a horse rider, check out Antigua Equestrian Center. Just up the road, arrangements can be made to ride to the beach and see some of the back parts of our beautiful island.
For nightlife, English Harbour is just a 10 minute drive around to the other side of Falmouth Harbour. There are several excellent restaurants for you to choose from, and our caretaker can assist you with making reservations. Sunday evening everyone heads to Shirley Heights. Watch the sunset, have a rum punch and listen to the steel band, all while overlooking beautiful English and Falmouth Harbours.
And don't miss downtown St. John's. Guests of Point of View can enjoy a 10% discount at Island Creations, located in historic Redcliffe Quay. After a bit of shopping, check out Big Banana's 'Pizzas in Paradise' for pizza and a cool drink, also in Redcliffe Quay.
After you have exhausted yourself shopping and arrive back to Point of View, well-laden with souvenirs and trinkets, you can end your day with a dip in the pool and a sunset drink. As the sun sets into the horizon, you may even see a green flash!
The house is unscreened, open-air and breeze cooled and the house communicates to the outdoors as if it were one. As Point of View is completely powered by the sun, we try to keep our energy usage low and ask our guests to conserve when possible. (don't leave lights on in parts of the property you aren't using, etc) Frogs, geckos, hermit crabs are all part of the Caribbean package when not staying in a sterile hotel environment, so be prepared! The hermit crabs will put on a show for you at night if you care to go out to the garden and watch them change their shells at night! Most kids love this!
We also have two dogs on the property, Smudge and Roxy, and two cats, Moya and Lulu, so for those of you leaving your pets at home, they are available for the occasional pat or cuddle if you miss yours too much!
