Sometimes you need a push or an inspiration story that has compelling elements to drive you crazy and go for that particular thing. While planning a trip to Spain, your mind should be liberated and you should think beyond sun, surf and sangria. There are many things to explore and disposer. Read out the following books that will surely inspire you to travel Spain.

The Return” by Victoria Hislop:
The Return by Victoria Hislop portrays the city of Granada (positioned in south-eastern Spain) during the war. Written in beach read style, the book is an amalgamation of historical and chick lit fiction. It describes the life of the neighborhood and how the dreams and relationships of the natives were destroyed.

A Manuscript of Ashes” by Antonio Munoz Molina:
The novel is set in late sixties during the reign of Franco and is a love story, a mystery and a depiction of tumult and complexities of the Civil War. Minaya is a university student, caught up in the student protests and put behind bars. He manages to escape to his Manuel’s (his uncle) country estate where he gets engrossed in writing his thesis.

The Time of the Doves’ by Merce Rodoreda:
The Time of the Doves depicts the life of Natalia, her depression and sufferings. This 1962 novel is distinguished by its use of stream of consciousness. Make sure you visit Barcelona and discover La Placa Del Diamant, a prominent location and the original Catalan title of the book.

Winter in Madrid’ by C.J. Sansom:
If you are reading this novel, you will surely get attracted to the Spanish capital, Madrid. C. J. Sansom talks about the political complications of post Spanish Civil War. The book is set in Madrid, just after 1940.
