North Shore Eco Studio with Mountain View

Home Description

Airy private one-bedroom flat with panoramic views located in a secluded neighborhood on a one-acre property at the base of Mt. Ka’ala. Now with a King bed! Entirely off-grid with private solar and water systems, we provide a comfortable stay mixed with a taste of environmentally friendly jungle lifestyle. Lush tropical landscaping provides privacy and allows you to experience nature in an unforgettable way. Enjoy breakfast on the lanai while listening to the songs of the birds before heading out to explore.

This is a private one-bedroom flat with a complete kitchen and full-size fridge and all of the essentials for homecooked meals and a comfortable stay for 4. The wall that separates the bedroom from the common area is open on the top and allows a nice natural light to fill the space. There are two small private lanais so you can make the most of the pleasant outdoor weather. North Shore Eco Perch is attached to the main house via a roofline that spans a breezeway between the two structures. There are no shared walls with the main house and with how the unit is designed, there is a great breeze that blows through the entire space and the noise can rarely be heard between the units.

This property is entirely off-grid, yet still has the comforts of home. All energy is generated with solar power and stored in our on-site battery bank and the water is pumped from our private artesian well 180 feet below the surface of the earth.

Enjoy (when in season) Papayas, Meyer’s lemons, Mexican limes, star fruit, guava, and whatever else is growing in the herb/vegetable garden at the time.

There is a yoga/stargazing deck on the property available for use.  Snorkel gear, surfboards (2 x beginner soft tops), beach towels, chairs and umbrellas are also available for use.

Surf lessons, stand-up paddle lessons and private tours available upon request.

We have many suggestions for hiking, surfing, snorkeling spots… Favorite restaurants, shops, massage therapists etc. We are also across the street from Orchard Oasis Yoga.

No pets allowed on the property, sorry.

Living in this lush neighborhood does occasionally mean that there will be bugs around, as is the case just about anywhere in Hawaii! When the normal tradewinds are blowing, it usually isn't a problem. We are not quick to use poison around our home. We have a mosquito lamp in the living room that does the job for the rare times when they find their way inside and mosquito coils that can be used on the outside lanai so you can still enjoy your coffee or meal outside during the wind-less days without bother.

Please be advised that trespassing on neighboring properties is not allowed and can be dangerous.

About The Area

This private, gated community is entirely off-grid and although it is only a 5-10 minute drive into Haleiwa town center, it feels very removed and remote.  The closest beaches are also a 5-10 minute drive away. We are 40 minutes away from Honolulu Airport.

House Rules

Our Eco Home is completely off the grid. PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY

All electricity is generated by solar panels and stored in our on-site battery bank.  Our water is pumped and filtered from a private well on the property. The home is not hooked up to any secondary public utility company, but we do have a backup generator to prevent power outages during extended periods cloudy days. We are very proud of and enjoy sharing this totally green lifestyle, however, it is very important to be conscientious of your own energy consumption during your stay to prevent overstressing the system.

Please remember to turn off all lights when you leave a room or when you leave the property.    If you have more power-hungry electronics (laptops etc.) please try to charge them during the daytime.

Please refrain from using any heating elements like hairdryers, flat irons, rice cookers, waffle makers etc.  Although they will turn on easily, they will drain the battery bank and cause permanent damage to our sensitive system.  If you do need to use any of these items, kindly let us know and we will turn on the generator.   If you have any questions about or issues with the water or electrical systems please do not hesitate to let us know and we will address them. We hope that you enjoy sharing our eco-friendly lifestyle.

A shared washer and dryer are available upon request for stays of longer than 7 days and can only be used during peak sunlight hours. They are located in the breezeway between the garage and the main house.

The home does have WiFi available for use, however, the internet speed isn't the best, and it is shared with the main house which North Shore Eco Perch is attached to via a roofline over a breezeway. We also have limited data available so please hold off on streaming or downloading any big files. On the bright side, it is great motivation to get off your device and enjoy the north shore!

Parking is available in the front of the home and along the bamboo trees by the main road. Please do not block the driveway.

All of the pets on the property (cat) are very friendly and do enjoy the attention. We are in the country, so it is not uncommon to see or hear our wild animal friends (peacocks, goats, donkeys, pigs, toads) they do not enjoy being pet, FYI. ;)

If you are looking for a unique relaxing Hawaii experience, away from the busy tourist traps, you will love our setting.  Whether you are here on a work trip, honeymoon, family vacation, or just need a moment to immerse yourself in nature, this is the perfect place for you.
