Beach Escape to Longboat Key, Waterfront Sunrises/Sunsets, Gulf Beach Access

Details

Home Description

Outdoor recliner seating provides wonderful views of Sarasota Bay in front of the cottage, and out the back sliding door a canal leads to the Bay. It's a nonstop nature show with pelicans and osprey diving for fish, dolphins swim by from time to time and fish jump throughout the day.

To get to beautiful Longboat Beach on the Gulf of Mexico side we have a deeded beach access path that is 0.4 miles away (a 10 minute walk, or a quick bike or drive) See Gulf Beach pics 17,18,19). All beach gear provided: chairs, mats, towels, umbrellas, beach wagon/cart for rolling supplies down access path to beach.

The cottage is attached to another unit - so it could be described as a townhouse. It is part of a small 8 unit (cottage/townhouse) condo association. It's at the end of a private road, so there is no traffic.

There are granite counters throughout (kitchen, bar, bathrooms), all the comforts of home, king-size master with en-suite bathroom - large bedroom windows open for ocean breeze. Second bedroom with very comfortable and new comfort top queen size bed... a queen size sofa bed in living room area is stylish as a couch and folds down flat for extra bed.

Nearby restaurants are excellent - just a short walk to restaurants at the end of St.Judes Drive (or a short drive/bike ride for waterfront view restaurants). Two kayaks (launch directly in-front of our cottage) and a pair of bikes (his and hers) provided.

Two free parking spots (one under carport).

Cozy, clean , beautiful natural setting

We enjoyed our stay very much. The view of Sarasota Bay was stunning. It was quiet and peaceful. The neighbors Tom and Brooke O'Malley were absolutely wonderful. The only regret we have is that our stay was not longer. Thank you Colin and Cyndi for letting us rent your cottage. Dave and Dianne

Wonderful Place to Relax or Go Have Fun.

Whether you're looking for a quiet place to get off the grid or getting out and having some fun, this is a great location for it. My wife, youngest daughter, oldest daughter (who's in college now) and myself met up in Long Boat Key for a long weekend. First, the cottage (bay overlook) was fantastic and slept us all comfortably. It had all the amenities of home. The location is also good for exploring Lido Key, Long Boat Key and Siesta Key. We visited the beach access just a few blocks from the cottage then cooked out our first night and played cards, then spent the day at Siesta Key on Saturday -- with plenty of time to get back and clean up for a dinner out at the Salty Dog -- very good dockside seafood just a couple of miles south that was very reasonably priced and had a great vibe. We also got to do some shopping in and around Siesta Village, which was a very cool place. In addition to beach-going, my wife and I really enjoyed taking a leisurely walk through the Durante Park and marshes footsteps from the cottage...and the amount of flora they had there. There's a lot of other things - boat and jet ski rentals, etc. - that we didn't have time to do, but we'll definitely be back soon. It was a lot of fun and the living arrangements couldn't have been better!

Outstanding cottage

My wife, 2 adult daughters and I spent 10 wonderful days here in mid May. Colin is a great owner. He met us at the cottage and took the time to make sure we knew where everything was in the cottage. He supplies almost everything you could ever want. Inside there are plenty of sheets, pillows, towels, pots, pans, utensils etc. Outside there are patio chairs and umbrellas, beach chairs and umbrellas, kayaks, bikes, etc. We went kayaking twice. The second time we kayaked around the point early in the morning and saw several dolphins. We especially liked sitting on the front patio under an umbrella reading a book or just looking out at the bay. It was pretty warm (about 90 degrees) every day, but the breeze off the bay made it feel great. The gulf side beach is about half a mile away. I ran to the beach, then along the beach, every morning. If you are a runner you will love it. We also walked or drove to the beach a few times for sunbathing and swimming. The water was the perfect temperature (not hot or cold, I'd estimate it to be about 80-82 degrees). I also recommend Coquina Beach, which is only a few minutes drive away. It is a beautiful beach with plenty of free parking, restrooms, picnic tables. It looked a bit busy on the weekends but we went there during the week and it was empty. If you want to do a little Sarasota sightseeing I recommend the Ringling Museum, especially the circus museum and the $5 tour of the mansion. When you exit the mansion make sure to sit out on the waterfront patio under an umbrella. What a life! Overall, it was a great vacation and I would highly recommend renting this cottage from Colin.

Hidden "gem" with full view of Sarasota Bay

My husband and I spent two months in this adorable cottage and I loved it! It is updated with fun decor and has a view of Sarasota Bay from the back door and a view of a waterway with boats moving along from the front windows. Also it has wonderful north light to paint if you steal part of the dining nook. Efficient use of space in a very private neighborhood. Loved biking and walking the beach every day and wish I'd had the nerve to kayak! Our only problem was that we are golfers and our favorite courses were 35 minutes + away, often fighting traffic getting on and off LBK. Just stay on the island with all those REAL restaurants, no franchises, and enjoy!
