Lochabar 2017 Vacation
If you want a beautiful place to stay and you love the simple life, Long Island is the place for you. The beach house was everything the owner described and more. Ernst (driver) and Nancy the (caretaker) were very friendly and provided valuable information. They were only a phone call away, if needed. Our days were spent mostly on the beautiful beach soaking in the abundant sunshine (had a total of 5 people walk by us on the beach over the 7 days we were there). The temps were in the mid 80's but the ocean breeze kept things very pleasant. The water was as green and blue as the pictures, just beautiful. We cooked at the beach house mostly (grocery store was simple but sufficient, fish house had fresh fish), but we did get out (rented car) and sample the local cuisine, (Clarence Town Marina) which was great. We explored Dean's blue hole where the pictures don't do it justice. We are going to have to get our scuba diving certification for the next visit. Secluded, quiet and safe are the words that come to mind when summing up our trip to Long Island and the Lochabar Beach House. Can't wait to get back!!

Wonderful family vacation!
We loved our stay at Lochabar House on Long Island. This was a family vacation with our 2 adult sons and our daughter-in-law.The setting was idyllic and the house was perfect. We loved the view of the protected bay on the Atlantic side where there was always a welcoming breeze. We cooked all of our meals in the well-stocked kitchen. We explored Long Island from stem to stern in the rental van provided. The beautiful beaches and gorgeous scenery were plentiful. The people on the island were very friendly and accomodating. This is a very safe island to visit. Thanks to Ron, the owner, for all of his welcome communication. All of the details made this house feel like a home on a beautiful island.

What a beautiful spot!
We had a wonderful 10-day stay at this property. It was the perfect location for me, my husband and our two boys (ages 10 and 13). Ron was very helpful leading up to our trip, always ready with answers to my many questions. Once we landed, his caretakers Nancy and Ernest were great on-the-ground resources as well. The property is located on a hill overlooking a beautiful bay (protected by three small cays, which helps to keep the wind down). Most times we were completely alone on the beach, or we might see just a small handful of other people. When the water is calm it's a great spot for swimming and kayaking. Twice the wind was calm enough that we took the kayaks across the bay to the uninhabited cay. We found amazing shells there, and of course another beautiful beach. My son bought a fishing pole on the island and tried fishing the blue hole almost every day. He never managed to land anything (did have a few bites), but it was great fun for him. When the wind was calm the boys also snorkeled this blue hole and did see a few fish, rays and turtles. We even saw wild pigs a few times on the trail leading down to the ocean! The island is very driveable, and although there are a few restaurants close by we found ourselves driving closer to the mid- and upper-island for a mid-afternoon meal and some activities most days. (Tiny's Hurricane Hole, the restaurant at Cape Santa Maria Resort, Chez Pierre and the very nearby Flying Fish Marina were all good choices for nice meals.) Otherwise, we cooked at the house, which was well-equipped with spices, pots and pans, and just about anything you might need. There's more to do mid- and upper-island, but we would definitely still choose this home on a return trip. There are a lot of places on the island that do not accommodate a beach, swimming or kayaking experience (either because they are too rocky or too windy). This spot on Lochabar Bay allows for all of those so if you're wanting a low-key vacation with lots of relaxation and natural beauty, this is the perfect spot!

Harbor villa is located on the beach in Lochabar Bay at Clarence Town Harbor, Long Island, Bahamas within sight of Flying Fish Marina in a quiet tropical setting overlooking an exceptionally beautiful mile long white powder beach. This house is built at an elevation of 40 feet above sea level with ocean views from every room. The deck, balcony, covered porch and all rooms are above the tree line to catch the breezes and for fabulous views of Clarence Town Harbor and the Atlantic Ocean. Three cays(islands) situated between our beach and the Atlantic Ocean stop large waves and provide us with a gently sloping, sandy beach free of currents and undertows. The calm water and long beach make this a classic. Lochabar 'Blue Hole' is a short walk away. This is a perfect place for a peaceful, secluded, sunny and quiet getaway, yet only 3-4 minutes from bars & restaurants.
Our house features 3 full size bedrooms, each with A/C, ceiling fans, queen size beds, and private bathrooms.
Large covered and screened entrance porch with skylights, ceiling fan, table and chairs. Perfect for outdoor dining or relaxing in the shade. Great for the infrequent rainy days! Large 13' X 20' deck facing the ocean, extending out above the tree tops, ideal for sunbathing. The ocean-side top floor balcony with access from two bedrooms is a relaxing spot to enjoy sea breezes and the never ending view. Fully equipped kitchen. Laundry room.
We are one mile south of Clarence Town and a twenty minute drive from Deadsman's Cay Airport(airport code LGI). Clarence Town has restaurants, a liquor store, a bakery, a gas station, shopping, a health clinic and a new marina.
