Perfect Place to Stay!!
Love Villa la Recompense!! My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and couldn't have asked for a better place to stay! The layout of the villa is very open with lots of outdoor common space (which we loved) but also feels extremely private. There are great views and the villa is a short walk from Petit cul du Sac beach. It's also a short drive to Lorient/St. Jean and our favorite beach, Saline. We truly felt like we found a home away from home in St. Barth! Thank you so much Jennifer and John- we will definitely be back!!Gwen A.

Home Away From Home
the most distinguished feature of villa Recompense is that this is a beloved family home. the layout took maximum advantage of the land, with separated bedroom bungalows occupying the hilly property. Thus, the villa provides great privacy for its occupants, along with beautiful ocean views from its exquisite deck. The well designed main living area incorporated a great number of doors and windows. They act like natural air condition, they are all open at all times to allow the free flow of the fresh island air. The owner took great care to furnish the villa, with west indie style furniture and family heirlooms make this a truly exotic and relaxed dream home. We also enjoyed the well stocked kitchen, the gas grill, and having our meals outside on the porch with great sea views in the near distance. I almost felt a little guilty for just two of us occupy this vast property in the tiny St. Barts. Thank you Jennifer for accommodating us and communication with you is effortless!Rachel G

My family and our friends (a total party of 4 adults and 2 children) just returned from Villa La Recompense and we all agree that we feel like we had a vacation in paradise. Everything was perfect - the villa really feels like a lovely home away from home. We loved the little beach that is right nearby and has good snorkeling (and is very quiet) - and couldn't believe what a short walk it was. Some unexpected visitors to the property included turtles and lizards and brightly colored birds - which delighted everyone. We became regulars of the patisserie (which is fabulous). We also loved the little fish stand just down the road that sells fresh fish in the morning - we bought gorgeous strawberry grouper and some lobsters and had a feast! The kitchen is very well stocked and the whole home is so open and has such great views and lovely gardens that there are many places to either gather with friends for a glass of wine, relax with a book, play a game of clue . . . I couldn't more highly recommend a place to stay. We will definitely return and wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else.Melinda G

Home Away From Home
Our second stay at the villa and it felt like coming home. This is a great spot for a quiet, relaxing vacation. The villa has many spots for relaxing in sun and shade and a great, private pool! We have used the kitchen and BBQ for a few meals and found everything we needed. The owners are great and the on island caretakers are very friendly and helpful. We can't wait to come back!P & 2

A True Home away from home
I am not sure how to describe this lovely villa. We honeymooned there in May and it was beyond our expectations in every way. First, the owners were responsive, helpful and gracious when we booked the week and in all the months leading up to our stay, answering questions at length and providing insight into things we hadn't thought to ask. When we arrived we were met by their on island manager who was just wonderful. When we arrived at the villa I was amazed. I know it's a cliche but the pictures don't do it justice. There's no way a picture can show you how comfortable and at home you will feel walking into this villa. It doesn't feel like a vacation villa at all, it feels like a home away from home. There are two dining areas, one in the villa and one on the covered deck. Also there are two main seating areas, again one inside and the other outside. There are numerous other little places to sit or lounge including by the pool, on the covered wrap around porch or the uncover parts of the deck. The kitchen is large and very well equipped. I have a catering business (really picky about kitchens) and was thrilled to find everything I needed and more to cook meals. The five burner gas stove was heaven! We occupied the master bedroom bungalow so I can only speak to that but the bed was comfortable, the bathroom is huge, the super private glassed in outdoor shower a delight, the closet is small but ample and the balcony was a great place to lounge and read. This place was perfect for a honeymoon. It is VERY private which I always consider to be a plus. I also think it would be great for a family or small group of friends since the rooms are all in seperate bungalows and there are so many places to congregate that you wouldn't feel cramped at all. The only reason I hesitated to write this review is that I want to keep it a secret so it will be available when we book it next year!Phillygal

Jennifer has a great villa. We loved the location because it was off the mainstream but, as always in SBH, it was close to everything. It is a traditional SBH villa which I really love. The furnishings are beautiful and comfortable, the kitchen very well appointed, and a sexy vibe throughout the villa. Gail and I had a great time at this villa. Just pure St. Barts as far as the feel of the place. Very romantic, very sexy, very comfortable, very functional.. The pool was clean and warm, the outdoor shower is wonderful. The villa had a great sound system so you can listen to the "sounds of St. Barts" while there and the bed is comfortable for a good nights sleep. All in all, this villa is impossible to beat for the price and the amenities. We have been to St. Barts 15 times and this is the best villa we've ever stayed in. We'd go back in a minute.Bob
