RECEPTIVE STRUCTURE. Breathtakingly beautiful natural scenery surrounds the Villa del Dottore, a country house set on the top of a hill and just a short walk from the borgo of Celle sul Rigo and from San Casciano dei Bagni and which is part of a large estate producing olive oil, honey and saffron. From this territory between the magnificent valleys of the Chiana and the Orcia, dominating an amazing view that starts from the beautiful garden around the house and then stretches over the rolling hills, offering a sensational skyline: to the west your gaze alights on the contours of Monte Amiata, stupendous in the reddish sunsets, and on the towering Rocca of Radicofani, across the ondulating timeless charm of the Crete Senesi, to the ruggedness of Monte Cetona and, finally, to the vital spring waters of San Casciano dei Bagni: a unique background for travelers looking for pure and essential landscapes in the magical countryside of Siena, to explore on foot, by bike or by car. The villa, following a recent renovation that has expanded and modernized the rooms, with an eye to the choice of furniture and details of style, has retained the spirit and warmth of the typical Tuscan houses. The bedrooms are large with modern ensuite bathrooms, the kitchen is modern and functional and the living areas are spacious and bright with French windows leading out to the garden. Villa del Dottore allows you to combine your holiday dedicated to well-being, thanks to the proximity of the prestigious thermal springs of San Casciano dei Bagni, just 10 minutes from the property, with the possibility of visiting the art cities of Tuscany and the picturesque villages in the surrounding area with their delicious food and wine such as Radicofani, Pienza, Montepulciano, San Quirico d'Orcia, Montalcino and many others as well. “Questa Celle è una terra di Toscana, che inforca un monticello a cavalcione, tentenna a mezzogiorno e a settentrione, fa baciamani come una cortigiana…Ell’ha un nome gentil, sottile e stretto[…]”. “Celle is a land of Tuscany, which straddles a hillock, oscillates south and north, kisses hands like a courtesan ... It has a gentle, subtle and firm name [...] ." (Giosue Carducci, Celle 1853, the poet who resided here during the years of his youth).
The property is happily adapted to the hilly terrain, spreading out along on many terraced levels. The house has 2 floors plus an attic, connected internally and with the lower floor having direct access from the outside. The ground floor, with the main entrance, consists of a comfortable TV room with study/reading corner and the sleeping area: five large double bedrooms (two with panoramic terrace), each with ensuite bathroom, four with shower and one with whirlpool tub. In one of the bedroom is placed a double sofa bed. An elegant wooden staircase leads up from the entrance to the attic with extra single bed, a double bedroom with an extra single bed and a bathroom with shower. The lower floor, reached from both the inside and from the outside directly through the French windows that illuminate the rooms, faces the back garden, just a few metres from the swimming pool. This floor is composed of the living area with lounge and dining room connected to the modern and functional kitchen with centre island and with direct access to the gazebo set up for alfresco dining. This floor is completed by a toilet and laundry room.
The vast estate in which the house stands covers an area of about 25 hectares, most of which is taken up by a large wooded area and by the olive grove which extends into the valley near the pool area. At the end of the cypress-lined driveway which leads to the entrance of the house is a lush Italian garden, covered by lawn where typical Mediterranean shrubs alternate with borders of herbs and colourful flower beds that adorn the set-up areas and invite you to spend time outdoors. The portico, in front of the main entrance, and a large terrace with access from one of the bedrooms are furnished with armchairs and sofas, offering a picturesque view of Monte Amiata. Along one side of the house is a large shady pinewood, with the table and stone bench where the poet Giosuè Carducci used to write. In front of the living room and kitchen French windows, which overlook the pool area, is a lawn with the gazebo for alfresco dining, equipped with built-in barbecue.
Open from the last Saturday in April until the first Saturday in October, the sun-drenched pool stands in a beautiful panoramic position, in a strategic point of the property where the view stretches out over expanses of cultivated olive groves to alight on the stupendous panorama of San Casciano dei Bagni and on Mount Cetona. It is situated on terracing lower than the house which is about 20 m away and is reached via a small paved path. The rectangular pool has large internal steps and measures 8 x 5 m, with a constant constant depth of 1.40 m. It has a stone border and is lined in sand coloured PVC; it has chlorine purification and there is a cold-water outdoor shower and lighting in the surrounding area. The sunbathing area is bordered by a discreet hedge, affording privacy, and is equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas.
