Home Description

PRIVATE STRUCTURE. Villa Arte e Natura, clinging to the top of a hill at 307 m above sea level, stands just outside the small borgo of Buggiano in the province of Pistoia and set in a constellation of green hills that tower above the Valdinievole. Its name is a homage to the splendid nature that surrounds it, in a land unique for its ancient beauty yet ever new and full of surprises, and, at the same time, recalls its designer, Father Costantino Ruggeri, architect, sculptor and painter known throughout the world for his religious works, designer of numerous churches, sculptor and decorator of beautiful stained glass windows made with coloured glass from Murano, who in 1976 lent his talent to create an unusual residence, made of clean essential lines, of an elegance generated by simplicity and, above all, of space and silence all around. Its grey concrete cubic shell is structured over three levels, connected by open walkways that lead to the various rooms and dominated by the beating heart of the house, the huge hall that welcomes you when you come into the main entrance on the ground floor, a pure white open-plan area of 140 sq m animated by columns and by a 7 metre-long divan gathered around a fireplace open on all sides: in front is a wall of frameless VISARM glass that gives you the sensation of being suspended over a magnificent void, an immense skyline, fantastic and shimmering in the darkness illuminated by the lights of the town that looms in front, which includes the huge plain, with the entire town of Buggiano and its castle, that stretches for kilometres up to the towering outlines of the old medieval borgo of Montecatini Alto and to the neighbouring villages of LSan Miniato, Lamporecchio, Empoli and Fucecchio which crown the horizon. No less magnificent is the well-kept park that surrounds the villa, a botanical garden set out on several levels and full of plant species from around the world, where you can relax throughout the day or stroll around it thanks to the internal paths delimited by a wooden fence. From this secluded residence, just a few kilometres from the spa resorts that have brought fame and international prestige to the entire area (Montecatini Terme and Monsummano), you can travel some of the most beautiful itineraries offered by the beautiful region of Tuscany, thanks to its proximity to the A11 motorway (10 minutes away) that will take you to the main cities of Tuscany, like Florence, Pistoia, Lucca, Pisa, as well as to the beautiful beaches of the Versilia coast in about half an hour.
