“We believe vacation rentals allow us to get up close and personal to the people, and the things that we’re passionate about.” –Matt Landau, Sense of Place
World traveler and vacation rental expert, Matt Landau is now the star of a new digital travel series, Sense of Place. The series premiered this fall and in its first season, Matt walks the viewer through places all over the globe from Kauai and Rome, to hidden gems in the continental United States like Blue Ridge, Georgia all while staying in vacation rentals instead of hotels.
Landau spent part of his career working as the American owner of Los Cuatro Tulipanes, a long-term rental property in Panama City, Panama and is also the Founder of Vacation Rental Marketing Blog, an online resource for the emerging vacation rental movement.
The main intent of the online series is the same as Vacation Rental Market Blog–to highlight the emerging vacation rental movement, which has grown exponentially in recent years. While websites like Airbnb and HomeAway put this movement on the map, there are many local vacation rental businesses that are now in the running (just like Tripz.com).
“I chose a vacation rental on my trip to Kauai to test out a theory: access is the new luxury in travel,” Landau said in the first episode of Sense of Place. “The trips I remember these days are the ones in which I make lasting personal connections…and while I don’t have friends everywhere, I do know that a carefully selected vacation rental business can be that friend who provides a window to the greater community.”
Here at Tripz.com, we can attest to Landau’s statement. As a vacation rental business, we work to provide open communication between the property owner and the guest to create the best vacation experience possible. We serve as a platform to give you access to whatever sort of house, condo, or apartment you want in cities across the nation, all without service fees because it is our passion and our mission to give you the best access to the best places to stay.
Landau also makes a point to say that integrating into local culture is vital to the best vacation experience, “I’d been to Hawaii before, and I had a good time, but I don’t remember much more.” But, staying in a vacation rental changed that for Matt, not only in Hawaii but in locations around the world.
And, at Tripz.com, we know how to immerse you, your friends and your family into the culture around the vacation rental properties we have across the country. The food, the nightlife, the shopping…you name it. We know it because we’ve lived it and we want you to live it, too. Vacation rentals are not only private, clean, and unique but also create a welcoming and comfortable space to fully immerse yourself into a new culture, no matter where you stay. Also, because the vacation home rentals are owned by people passionate about the area, you as a guest can get the true perspective of the locals on where to go and what to do… much more personal than a concierge at a hotel.
We have the perfect places to rent in cities across the nation not only because of their ideal locations, but their amenities as well. Hotels tend to use a, “one size fits all” mentality, while each of our locations have their own unique set of attributes only vacation rentals can provide.
Vacation rentals allow for more privacy, more flexibility and more relaxation simply because they are homes, not hotels. Our vacation home rentals have private and clean pools, full closets, washers and dryers, full-sized fridges in full kitchens, and couches to lounge on. These amenities are important to note, because no matter what new place you are exploring, it can still feel like home.
Matt said in an interview with VRM Intel, that the difference between hotels and vacation rentals, is the passion. It is our mission and our pleasure at Tripz.com to guide our travelers through the entire booking process, from beginning, middle to end. Our promise to our guests includes assistance in finding the perfect rental for your needs, and we have simplified the process to make booking your vacation more enjoyable. We also have a different model than other vacation rental sites—our model reverts the marketplace back to its original purpose: to bring buyers and sellers together. We are committed to your best interests, just like that friend Landau is talking about.
Sense of Place is releasing new episodes from season one on YouTube, Facebook and Native every Thursday. The series has already shared experiences from Hawaii, Italy, and Georgia, but it can be expected to find episodes exploring Tennessee, Washington and Mexico in the future.
