Conjure up images of lush gardens, sprawling areas, rich flora and fauna, plenty of picnic zones, play areas for kids and most importantly, away from the hustle and bustle of city life, if you are envisaging all these, then just maybe Manchester is calling you.
Manchester is a popular city in the northwest of England. There was a time when the city hosted only three main parks- Peel Park, Philips Park and Queen’s Park. Now, there are as many as thirty four parks in the city. To help you select the most popular ones, I have highlighted a few of them in the following.
• Heaton Park: The biggest park in the city of Manchester is Heaton Park. Often considered as a historical landmark, the park is just more than a walking paradise. It is home to an eighteenth century country house named Heaton Hall. It also has a boating lake, an observatory, tennis courts, a pitch and putt course, an 18-hole golf course, an animal farm and a gold driving range.
• Prestwich Forest Park: A beautiful park on the list is Prestwich Forest Park. Drink water Park, Philips Park Local Nature Reserve, Prestwich Clough and Waterdale Meadow are the main attractions in the park. Amongst main facilities of the park are children’s play area, car parks, fishing, visitor center and the likes.
• Queen’s Park: Queen’s Park is of great historical importance with numerous historical buildings, such as Victoria Fountain and the Lodge House were built in here. Play area, toddler’s play area, cycle racks, visitor center and grassland areas are its main facilities.
• Fletcher Moss Park: The Park boasts nature trails, tennis courts and rich flora and fauna with unique plants and flowers, it creates a perfect botanical beauty. A group called the Friends of Fletcher Moss Park and Parsonage Gardens was created in 2006 to organize meetings so that the members can give feedback about the facilities and other aspects of the park. You can join the park if you want and give your input.
