Previously not-so-popular and often neglected, Bordeaux has developed as a major tourist hotspot in France for its architectural grandeur, historical importance and great culture. In the year 2007, the vibrant city was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There is another side of Bordeaux for being acknowledged capital of delicious cuisines and amazing wines in southwest France.
Museum of Contemporary Art:
Once serving as a major colonial storehouse (storing cocoa, spices, coffee, sugar, etc.) for approximately 40 years, the Museum of Contemporary Art is now replete with beautiful contemporary visual arts with around 1300 incredible art works by 190 artists.
Triangle d’Or:
An easy stroll along Bordeaux’s Golden Triangle will bring your notice some of the most striking historic monuments, structures and buildings. Soak up the great atmosphere, appreciate the old building facade, do some shopping and tantalize your taste buds with fine French cuisines.
Garonne River:
Great surroundings, tree-lined promenades, restaurants and shops, the Garonne River has become a top-notch spot for travelers. This is the place where various river festivals take place. From swimming race to street entertainers, from food to wine stalls, from open air film screenings to dance lessons, you are going to experience them all. The Bordeaux River Festival is a famous festival, which mainly focuses on boats and sailing industry.
St Pierre:
If you are someone who not only looks for having fun, but also believes in knowing the Bordeaux’s history, the St. Pierre makes a wonderful place for you. The district is blessed with cobbled streets, delightful squares, majestic mansions and picturesque monuments. The Place du Parlement is the main square housing world class restaurants and bars, great architecture and a neo-Renaissance fountain.
Got some more time? Why not explore its neighboring towns and cities?
